Right on schedule after their El Diablo thing of last week, the NY Post editorial board Tuesday produces another editorial blaming Silver for something other people are doing. Or in this case, not doing.
Silver controls everything, you see. Because that's what El Diablo does.
The Post Tuesday blames Silver for the MTA crisis, calling it "SPEAKER SILVER'S FARE HIKE" because the Assembly hadn't actually passed its version of the Ravitch recommendations. If it had done so, the Post's best thinking goes, Senate Democrats would be impelled to do the same. So pressure needs to be brought to bear on Assembly Democrats rather than Senate Democrats to do something about the MTA.
Right.
Bob McManus, an ex-military guy who runs the Post's editorial page would have made a great British military commander. Bob could have scripted the humiliating surrender by the British to the Japanese at Singapore in WWII. The British were overrun because they had their big guns POINTED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, BOB. But other than completely blowing the direction from which the Japanese would invade, the British had everything all figured out, kinda like Commander Bob and the Post.
Or to paraphrase Jacob the Prophet: "The Post's subtlest ruse is to convince us that it thinks."
